What You Get

What’s Included in Bass Guitar Lessons

01

Online or In-Person Bass Lessons

Take bass guitar lessons the way that fits your life. Rock Garage offers one-on-one lessons in person at our Indianapolis studio or online, with the same instructors and the same quality either way. There is no standard curriculum. Each session is shaped around your goals, your taste in music, and your pace, whether you are picking up a bass for the first time or returning after years away. Your bass guitar teacher is matched to your style and schedule so lessons feel like a good fit from the start.

02

Locking In With the Drummer

A great bassist and a great drummer sound like one player. Your bass teacher works with you on rhythm, timing, and feel, including how to lock in with the kick drum, hold a steady groove, and know when to play simple and when to push. You learn to listen first and play second, which is what makes a band sound tight. Beginners build good habits from day one. Advanced players sharpen their pocket and fill in gaps. The goal is playing other musicians can rely on.
03

Reading and Theory

Strong playing starts with understanding what you play. Bass lessons at Rock Garage cover reading music and tablature, scales, and the theory that explains how chords, bass lines, and songs fit together. You learn to build lines that support a song, follow a chart, and pick up new tunes faster. Theory is taught in the context of real music, so it never feels abstract, and it gives you the tools to keep growing long after the lesson ends.
04

A Path Into a Band

Lessons are only the start. When you are ready to play with others, Rock Garage can place you in a band matched to your level, with a music director, weekly rehearsals, and real shows at venues across greater Indianapolis. Bassists are what bands need most to sound complete, and having a teacher who knows the studio makes the move into a band easier. Many students use bass guitar lessons as a stepping stone to the stage.
